The Importance of Mapping the Right Project Delivery Process within the Enterprise Integrated System

Integration the business strategy within the project delivery process and vice versa is the core foundation to have a sustainable enterprise growth and profit. However, it is not that sample as it sounds.

It is still a challenge for many organizations to have such integration. The first challenge is having ONE project delivery process from creation to closeout based on the different organization business lines. The detail within the processes is what marks the organization as successful on efficient delivery, successful management, sustainable profit and organization growth.

Going back to basics, what is the purpose of the integrated enterprise system?

Before reading next line, please think about one or two enterprise-integrated system purposes. There are many answers. However, the ultimate goal in my view is decision-making credibility for the decision makers. This credibility is what makes the process effective and efficient without the need for regular meetings and reviews, which are time, energy and money consuming.

This effectiveness and efficiency should be translated by the system. The system sample dashboard might starts with a sample positive cash flow chart which is easy to show at any point of time for the different levels (project, portfolio, department, business line, region, and clients).

The challenge of having visible results comes always from the definition of the projects delivery process to build the right integrated system. Top management might think “why they will involve in such details”. The sample answer is the awareness of your employees on how the organization is doing their business. If the process is clear to the top management, it will be easy to implement and adopt by employees. If the top management involved in how it works, they will provide the right delegation and responsibilities matrix. Because of this the most successful management are the ones who worked in the different departments and business line levels.

This awareness is not required to top management and the internal staff only; it is also so crucial to show it to your clients to convince them of the organization maturity and ability to deliver successful complex projects and the ability to expand and grow to take over mega projects.

Therefore, when you have a well-defined project delivery process (which is another big different blog totally), you will get the first step towards creating credible enterprise Integrated system on any decision made within the organization.
